UND is trying to kill us all
Maybe I'm just whining because I don't want to go at all. At this point in the semester, going to class wouldn't sound fun even if it was rainging chocolate. But honestly it's a winter storm, people! I know we're from North Dakota, we're tough and withstand any temp you throw at us-- but REALLY-- sometimes it's okay to admit that the winter is stronger than we are.
The National Weather Service describes this weather as HAZARDOUS. Widespread blowing snow and a chance of more snow. The high is only 23 degrees-- not counting the ice/sleet/wind crap that is gusting in at 50 mph. Did I mention the roads are pure ice?
But in my history of going here, UND has never called off school. Not even when it was 60 below WITHOUT the windchill and we had snow up to our waist. Also, it's Thanksgiving weekend meaning most people are stranded in route back to G.F.Will UND cancel class? NO. I don't think they would cancel class if man-eating-ogres were roaming the streets. Not even if the man-eating-ogres preffered college co-ed meat above all others. Maybe if the ogre devoured professors....
Anyway, why should I complain? I made the command decision to stay home and skip all but one class (the one I have to give a presentation in) You know why I can still whine? Becuase I KNOW it's the right decision.
It took 20 minutes to scrape the inch of ice off my vehicle and 30 minutes to make a normally 10 minute drive today. I should be rewarded for good common sense not punished by missing quizes and lectures. It's okay, North Dakota, to wave the white flag in surrender now and then.
Not that mother nature would notice a white flag in all this mess anyway...I'm just saying!
BRRRRR!!!
